Our Story

I grew up in England living an active outdoor life. At 25, I spent a ski season in Courchevel, and have played field hockey throughout my life, including representing Wales at the Commonwealth Games.

After moving to New Zealand, I quickly became aware of the strength of the sun. Whether training, skiing or spending time at the beach, reliable sun protection was essential.

The need for better protection became deeply personal when, at 32, I lost one of my closest friends, James, to skin cancer. Around the same time, a local friend’s daughter was unable to use regular sunscreen because of an allergic reaction. Together, these experiences inspired Zoop.

We wanted to create a sunscreen that could perform in demanding outdoor conditions, be suitable for hypersensitive skin and still feel good enough for everyday use.

After four years of research, development and testing, Zoop was created for people who love being outdoors and understand the importance of protecting their skin.

Before Zoop, I advised people about ethical investing and using their money to make a positive difference. I wanted the same values to shape the products I helped create.

That commitment continues to guide our choices, including using sunscreen tubes made with sugar-cane-based plastic and considering environmental and social responsibility throughout our ingredients, packaging and supply chain.

These days, there may be more work behind the scenes, but I am still happiest outdoors—on a beach, beside a hockey field or high on a mountain—using and testing products made for the New Zealand way of life.
